Tottenham Hotspur ready to axe striker Peter Crouch
Tottenham Hotspur are set to dump their England International striker Peter Crouch when the January transfer window opens.
The 6 ft. 7 in. striker has managed just a solitary goal in the Premier League this season. That came in last night’s 4-2 win over Blackburn Rovers. However, his record in Europe is quite the opposite. The 29-year-old has scored
an incredible 5 goals in the Champions League.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has given a warning to his striker by saying that if his performance doesn’t improve, he could lose out his place for club and country, as there are many strikers in the league who are performing well
and threatening to take his place.
Another worrying factor for the manager is the 29-year-old’s inability to play alongside Rafael van der Vaart. The Dutch attacking midfielder was signed in the summer from Real Madrid on the deadline day.
Spurs’ best striker Jermain Defoe, who has been injured since the beginning of the season with ankle ligament damage, is close to returning. There is little time left for Crouch to prove his critics wrong. Unless he shows radical
improvement, there is real danger that in January he will be sold.
The 63-year-old has already talked about strengthening his forward line and it appears that Crouch will be the one to make way for the January arrivals.
The Lilywhites have put £8 million valuation of the tallest striker in England. It is believed that if such an offer comes in January then Redknapp will be prepared to let go of him and use this money to bring in new faces.
It’s an open secret that the Spurs manager has been looking to sell his other strikers Robbie Keane and Roman Pavlyuchenko for some time. Ideally he would also want to offload them if the right offer comes for them. However, they
will not consider loan deals for these players. He has already rejected loan offers in the past for these players.
While there is a talk of strikers leaving the White Hart Lane, new arrival Van der Vaart has settled in his new home wonderfully. The Dutchman’s wife Sylvie has talked about their life in London and how much the couple is enjoying
life after moving from Real Madrid. She is also representing French cosmetic giants L’Oreal and is their new face.
She said: “Rafa has found his place and his happiness. This is why he is in the best form of his life. We’ve found a beautiful house in Hertfordshire.”
