Tottenham Hotspur skipper Michael Dawson happy with Scott Parker’s arrival
Former West Ham United midfielder Scott Parker revealed he was pleased to have signed with Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window. The 30-year-old England midfielder was used as a substitute in the 1-0 win over Wales in the 2012 Euro qualifiers
at Wembley.
Parker won the Football Writers’ Association player of the year award last season while at West Ham United, despite the club facing relegation. This was mainly the reason why Parker left the Hammers to join a Premier League side.
Parker said in an interview:
“I've got a new club to look forward to going to now, so I'm pretty pleased and looking forward to going in there.”
The London club already have too many midfielders at the club, which means Parker will have to face a lot of competition for a place in the starting line-up. However, Tottenham Hotspur skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288 was confident the England international would
manage fine at his new club.
Dawson, the 27-year-old central defender, revealed the club was lucky to have signed a talented player like Parker. He said he had faced him and played alongside him on many occasions and had no doubt on his abilities as a top footballer.
Dawson said while speaking to reporters:
“We're all delighted to see Scott Parker join the club, a great signing for us.”
He added:
“Scott's a top-class player, a winner. I played with him for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 last March and have played against him on many occasions.
His strengths are that he gets his foot in, tries to break up play and gets your team playing.
He gives everything every time he goes on the pitch. He's certainly a player you want on your team, rather than playing against you and I'm sure he'll be big signing for Tottenham.”
Parker signed for West Ham United in the summer of 2007 for a fee of £7 million and despite an injury early on, managed to cement a place in the starting line-up. He made a total of 129 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions and found the back of
the net 12 times.
