Tottenham Hotspur star keen on return to Hamburg
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rafael van der Vaart says that he would one day like to return to his former club Hamburg.
The Holland international spend three years with the German side between 2005 and 2008 and won the UEFA Intertoto cup in his first season there.
While he went to achieve success in the Spanish Supercup with Real Madrid, Van der Vaart claims that his time spent in Germany was important to him.
Even though he is happy playing for English Premier League side Spurs, the attacker believes that he will eventually return to Hamburg.
The 27-year-old told German outlet Kicker: "I do not regret moving (to Tottenham). We are doing well in the league and Spurs are a top side in the Premier League. It is, however, a fact that I want to play for Hamburg again. I have been told that I will
always be welcome back there.
"I think I will rejoin the club in the future. Last summer I was not handed the opportunity because the financial circumstances were not right at that point, but maybe in the future they will be."
Van der Vaart moved to Spurs from Madrid on transfer deadline day for a fee of eight million pounds and has established himself as an important player for Harry Redknapp.
In 13 games in total for the London-based side, he has scored eight goals, including the first in a 3-1 win over European champions Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League at White Hart Lane. He also won the EPL Player of the Month award for October.
Van der Vaart was also a part of the Holland squad which reached the 2010 FIFA World Cup final, but he could not help them to find a way past Spain.
