Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe revealed he agreed with manager Harry Redknapp that the Spurs stood a chance at winning the English Premier League. He felt the London side had a quality squad and could finally go on to claim the Premier League crown.
After a slow start, Tottenham Hotspur are currently at third place on the Premier League table, below Manchester City and Manchester United. If they continue to win and the Manchester sides slip then Spurs stand a fair chance of going top of the table.
Defoe said in an interview:
“We have two teams who are capable of playing in the Premier League. It doesn't matter who we play, we believe we can win. Can we win the title? The manager thinks we can. That's great and I can't see why not.”
He revealed the squad was excited about the possibility of winning because of which they looked forward to every game. Tottenham Hotspur host Bolton Wanderers over the weekend, a fixture they are favourites to win, which means they will have three more points
guaranteed.
He said:
“Every game you look forward to. We have the winning mentality now. It doesn't matter who we play, we always think we can win.”
As for rivals Arsenal, Defoe was confident Tottenham Hotspur would go on to defeat them for a second time this season. Defoe revealed:
"I'm quite confident that we'll finish above http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and I will take Jack on. I'll get involved, even though some Arsenal fans probably won't like to hear me say that."
When asked if he would leave the club, Defoe claimed he was quite attached to the club and could not imagine leaving under any circumstances. However, he did reveal he would consider a move away if he was no longer guaranteed first team football.
Defoe continued:
“Everyone knows I love the club. I'm Spurs through and through”
He added:
“It's difficult to think about leaving.”
