Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe was confident of a bright future after helping his side reach the ten game unbeaten run. Defoe was amongst the goal-scorers in the 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion over the weekend, putting the Spurs in a comfortable
spot in the English Premier League table.
While usually being chosen second to Rafael van der Vaart, Defoe was rewarded with a start since the Dutchman was unavailable due to injury. Defoe did well to link up once again with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 and score his seventh goal of the current season.
Defoe said while speaking to reporters:
“I think this is the best group of players I've been involved with.”
It was Adebayor, the Togolese striker on a season long loan from Manchester City, who scored the other two goals for the Spurs. Defoe was certain this was one of the best teams Tottenham Hotspur had managed to assemble and felt they had potential to win
the Premier League this season.
He added:
“We've got two great teams in effect we can put out to be honest and it is a great time to be at the club.”
Unlike many other players, Defoe has handled being dropped from the starting XI fairly well. Instead of complaining, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international has stuck to training harder and has proved his match fitness time and time again since the 2011-2012 season began.
Defoe revealed:
“Sometimes when you haven't played for a while it is difficult in terms of your sharpness.
But I felt sharp at West Brom. I've always kept myself sharp in training even if I have to a little bit extra because I haven't played.”
The 29-year-old spoke about his goal and the fact that he had been working his entire career on how to score chances such as the one he was provided with against West Bromwich Albion. The Tottenham Hotspur striker continued:
“I was one-on-one running towards their goal and I just wanted to get that yard of space where I could hit it.
It is something I've worked on my whole career and I still do it every day.”
