Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe revealed he was looking forward to playing alongside on-loan Manchester City striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international was certain he could form a successful partnership with Adebayor and help his side reach
their targets by scoring goals.
The Spurs had a disappointing campaign last season, losing out on the UEFA Champions League spot due to lack of goals. With a variety of strikers including Defoe, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Crouch-c29741 could not produce enough goals to guarantee a spot in the
Champions League.
Having finished at fifth place on the Premier League table last season, the Spurs find themselves competing for the UEFA Europa League trophy instead. Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp made some changes over the summer, selling Peter Crouch to Stoke
City and bringing Adebayor on a season long move.

The 28-year-old was hopeful of working on building a good partnership with Adebayor, which would ensure plenty of goals for both the strikers. Hart Lane.
Defoe said while speaking to Spurs TV Online:
“He is brilliant. I was looking forward to it (playing with him) even before he came.
There was a lot of speculation that he was coming and I just thought to myself 'please let it happen' because he's a great player.”
While Defoe managed to find the back of net nine times in a total of 30 appearances in all competitions last season, Adebayor struck 13 times in 34 appearances in all competitions for both Manchester City and Real Madrid, having spent the latter half of
last season on loan with the La Liga giants.
Defoe revealed the arrival of Adebayor had had a positive effect on his performance as well as that of the rest of the squad. He praised the Togolese striker on his pace and his constant supply of passes, which had improved their chances of finding the back
of the net.
He continued:
“He's quick, he can head it, he is strong and he is a good finisher.
He can do everything. Him being there freed me up a bit because it allowed me to drop deep, get on the ball and beat players so it was good.”
The English forward was certain he would do better this season, after a disappointing last season due to injury and fitness issues. Defoe was confident his improvement had been apparent in pre-season and would continue on for the rest of the campaign.
He said:
“I have a had a good pre-season. Last year I didn't get one so that made it difficult.”
