Tottenham Hotspur striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 has admitted he had wanted to leave the club on a loan move in the January transfer window due to lack of first team opportunity.

This season Defoe has made just 11 starts and admitted he had asked the manager if he could leave the club in the January transfer window on a loan move. Defoe said in an interview:
“I didn't want to leave. I don't go thinking, 'I want to go to this club or that club. But in January I just wasn't playing enough and I did go to the manager and ask to go out on loan.
Defoe confirmed he had been driven to ask the manager to leave the club on a loan move in the winter transfer window. However, Harry Redknapp had asked Defoe to remain at White Hart Lane until the end of the season with promise of regular football in the
future.
Despite Redknapp’s claims of giving him more of a chance to prove himself, Defoe once again found himself on the bench for the remainder of the season. He revealed he felt he was in the youth team, with nothing he did earning him a spot in the first team.
