Tottenham Hotspur versus Arsenal – Second half review: English Premier League (Part 1)
Following a goal-filled first half of the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham, Harry Redknapp decided to bring about two changes to his team’s line-up at the start of the second half. Tottenham’s manager took off Vedran
Corluka and replaced him with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Lennon-c3062 was thrown into the fray in place of the Welsh winger. Bale who was largely ineffective in the first half was injured near the half time
whistle as he clashed with Wojciech Szczesny.
Nonetheless, the second half started with Arsenal on the front foot yet again. The Gunners attacking approach in the first half proved to be counterproductive as they often left themselves open to the pace of Rafael Van der Vaart
and the tricky of Luka Modric. Tottenham milked this advantage for all it’s worth as they gain a route back into the match following Thomas Huddlestone’s striker near the end of the first half.
In the second half, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Johan-Djourou-c18779 soon followed his team-mate into the referee’s book as he brought
down Modric near his team’s penalty area. Van der Vaart stepped up to take the free kick for the home side but his final shot sailed over the cross bar as the score line remained at 2-3 at White Hart Lane stadium.
In the 52nd minute, Arsenal brought about their first change of the match as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Abou-Diaby-c3453 in centre midfield. This substitution was a straight swap as Wilshere slotted into Diaby’s defensive midfield
role. Diaby was unimpressive for Arsenal in the first half and Wilshere’s introduction gave Arsenal a different option due to the young midfielder’s quick passing skills.
In the 54th minute, Tottenham almost scored their third goal as Rafael Van der Vaart timed his run to perfection to evade the offside trap. The Dutch midfielder was played in by Modric but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998 was on hand
to tip his shot away as Arsenal survived their first real scare of the second half. In the 57th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 had the ball in the back of the net for Arsenal but his goal was disallowed due to his offside position.
