Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester City preview, English Premier League
Manchester City will travel to White Hart Lane on Sunday to take on Tottenham Hotspur in match day three of the English Premier League. While the Citizens have had a terrific start to the season, the same cannot be said for Harry Redknapp’s side. They lost their first fixture 3-0 to Premier League champions Manchester United and will be looking to bounce back.
However, it will not be easy since Manchester City look like a much stronger side after a busy summer. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini has brought in various players to strengthen the squad and for once City look like they could challenge the usual top four sides for the title. The Tottenham Hotspur boss admitted City had a very strong squad.
According to Redknapp, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 have maintained their dominance domestically and in Europe throughout the years, City have just begun to emerge as a top team in Europe after excessive spending by the club’s owners, Sheikh Mansour.
This summer transfer window saw the arrival of Sergio Aguero, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri to add to the already star studded squad. The likes of Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez, Yaya Toure and David Silva are all players who can make a difference and along with the new arrivals, the Manchester City team looks unstoppable.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters:
“They are looking strong. I would say that they have probably got as strong a squad as any team in the world.
They don't have Messi but man for man; they certainly have a stronger squad than Barcelona.”
He continued:
“You look at that forward line now and they have Aguero, Tevez, Edin Dzeko, Silva - it's amazing.
Then you have players like Balotelli, who can't get in the team along with Adebayor, Bellamy and Santa Cruz.”
Team news
Tottenham Hotspur
Having recently secured http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857’s transfer talks with Chelsea.
Redknapp said:
“Just having Adebayor here this morning brightened the place up.
Training was sharper and that's what happens when you bring new players in to a football club.”
While http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are still keen on signing the Croatian midfielder, the Spurs are determined not to let him go. He refused to play against Manchester United on Monday and against Hearts in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off, but Redknapp revealed he expected Modric to feature for the Spurs over the weekend.
He revealed:
“There is no reason why he shouldn't play (on Sunday). He is fit.”
Even though Adebayor has completed his transfer, he might not face Manchester City on Sunday. Apart from the addition of Modric, Redknapp is expected to field a relatively unchanged side against Manchester City.
Manchester City
Former Arsenal midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 player, Gael Clichy could feature today, having made himself available for selection.
Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero are expected to start in attack, with David Silva to act as provider for the attacking players. The trio have proved their effectiveness and it doesn’t seem Mancini will be changing things around anytime soon. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez has returned to the squad but will most likely not start due to lack of match fitness.
