Fresh from last weekend’s draw against Chelsea, Queens Park Rangers will travel to White Hart Lane this weekend to face Tottenham.
Tottenham finally ended their search for three points as they enjoyed a comfortable 1-3 victory against Reading at the Madejski Stadium. The team has however still not managed to win at home, and will be hoping for one to truly kickstart their season.
Manager Andre Villas-Boas earlier highlighted the importance of the Europa League yesterday, but insisted that the Premier League remains his first priority. Having finally registered a win as Spurs boss, the Portuguese will be targeting another this weekend.
Tottenham
Expected starting line-up:
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Lennon-c3062, Jermain Defoe.
Spurs are expected to field out the exact same team that played against Reading on Sunday. The squad is still without most of its first team players. The likes of Scott Parker and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Younes-Kaboul-c37543 remain on the sidelines on account of injuries.
Recent additions to this list are Benoit Assou-Ekotto and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526. Assou-Ekotto has been ruled out from the side following a knee injury, while Adebayor picked up a thigh strain last week.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 will continue his role up front. After scoring a brace against Reading, the striker is in fine form, and it comes as no surprise that he has started most of Tottenham’s games.
Moussa Dembele will make his second start in the league alongside Sandro, and will be joined by Gylfi Sigurdsson in the attacking midfield role. Clint Dempsey still hasn’t featured for the side since his deadline day move from Fulham, but is expected to
be on the bench.
The back four remains the same with Naughton the only new face because of Assou-Ekotto’s absence from the side. Tottenham will be looking forward to their first home victory of the season after having drawn twice before.
Queens Park Rangers
Expected starting line-up:
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zamora-c40983.
Queens Park Rangers managed a hard fought draw against European champions Chelsea at Loftus Road. The Hoops had managed a victory in the same fixture last season, but faced a more menacing and stronger Chelsea side this time around. The side managed to keep
the Blues at bay and earned a point.
Manager Mark Hughes is expected to field out the same team that played against Chelsea last week and against Manchester City two weeks ago.
Bobby Zamora scored a goal against City and will start alongside Andrew Johnson up front. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Park-Ji-Sung-c29147 will captain the side and play in midfield as they look to contain the impressive Moussa Dembele and Gylfi Sigurdsson.
The back four also remains the same after putting in a tough shift against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-c31222 Green after the Brazilian made a series of impressive saves to keep QPR in the game last weekend.
QPR face a tough task as they travel to White Hart Lane, but will be wary of Tottenham’s defensive frailties. The North London club have not managed a convincing start to the season, and their recent win may not be seen as a threat by The Hoops. However,
a win in the Europa League tonight may encourage Tottenham to go on and get a result on the weekend.
Prediction
Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314
I predict Tottenham to win through goals by Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale. QPR have it in them to score a goal, but will find it hard to cope with Tottenham’s pace and incisive passing. Being the better team on paper, Tottenham’s quality may prove to be
too much for The Hoops.
