Tottenham Hotspur vs Real Madrid: Champions League second-leg Quarter-final Match Preview
A miraculous effort would be required by Tottenham Hotspur to overturn their four goal deficit when they will take on the Spanish giants in the second-leg quarter-final match of the Champions League on their home soil White Hart Lane on Wednesday.
Real Madrid must be feeling confident about their chances to qualify for the semi-finals after their forwards http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629, helped Whites to a crushing 4-0 victory in the first-leg last-eight match of the European Cup
competition last week at Santiago Bernabeu.
It is reported that Madrid’s manager, Jose Mourinho, might rest some of his first team players for the match. Spurs would be praying for a miracle as no team has yet overturned the four goals difference of the first-leg in the European Cup history.
Spurs manager, Harry Redknapp, has some other thoughts as he said:
“We are in a situation where everyone feels the tie is over but we know we are a good team and can play well here at White Hart Lane. We know it will take a miracle but miracles can happen and we have to believe that we can give it our best shot tomorrow
[Wednesday] and if we play very well, you never know what will happen”.
Jose Mourinho hasn’t ruled out the miracle considering the good form Spurs possess this season at their home ground. Spurs have outperformed their opponents by winning in four of their five matches by maintaining a positive goal difference of 12 goals, as
they have conceded only two goals and scored 14 goals in this season at White Hart Lane.
The 48-year old Mourinho said, “Miracles do happen in football. That's why I say we have to respect Tottenham. We are coming here to play seriously. I am going to pick the best team possible”.
The Spurs will miss the services their exemplifying striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Crouch-c29741, who was booked with a Red Card in the first tie, which also sets the record for the fastest two yellow cards.
Real Madrid, who have not qualified for the UEFA semi-final after 2003-03, need to be extra careful against Spurs because five of their potential match changers could be in the danger zone as one more yellow card to anyone of them could make them sit on
the sideline benches against Barcelona in the semi-finals.
These players include, Cristiano Ronaldo, Angel Di Maria, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Ramos-c33096.
Madrid have many players, who could turn the match in their favour, with their individual brilliance. The Portuguese international, Cristiano Ronaldo, has struck 39 goals this season while their attacking midfielder, Mesut Ozil, has been leading the most
number of assists with six assists in this competition.
The other biggest threat that could actually hamper Spurs strategy is Emmanuel Adebayor’s wonderful record against them. Spurs have remained a happy hunting team for the former Arsenal player. His two goals in the first tie against Redknapp’s men took his
goal tally to 10 in a total of 13 games.
There is every chance that Spurs might start to attack from the first minute and that may give Madrid an opportunity to counterattack against them.
Prediction:
Real Madrid to overcome Spurs by 2-1 score.
