Harry Redknapp’s side will host Swansea City in the Barclays Premier League this Sunday with the home side looking for their first win in since February.
Tottenham have gone from being potentially entering themselves in the race for the Barclays Premier League title, to suddenly wondering if they can finish in the top four by the end of the current season.
The London side surrendered third spot to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 over the course of the past few weeks as they have picked up only two points out of a possible fifteen in their past five matches. One would have to go all the way back to the 11th of February for Tottenham’s last win in the league, which incidentally was a five goal drubbing of Newcastle United.
However, since then, losses to Arsenal, Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
One could argue that the Spurs had a tough run in when it came to their fixtures, however, if that is the case then their next match is set to be another challenging test that they may not emerge with all three points from.
Swansea City have had a dream season in the top tier of English Football, following their promotion from the Championship last season. The team are three points behind http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 who currently sit in seventh place and depending how the Merseyside club fare against Newcastle United, Swansea could find themselves level on points with the Reds.
The one factor that make Swansea such a tricky team to play against is their inconsistency. The side have won three and lost three of their previous six fixtures. Swansea managed to beat high flying Manchester City, in what was the pick of their matches, but also lost to Norwich at home.
It will be something that Spurs’ manager, Harry Redknapp, will be wary of as he prepares his side for the crucial clash. The match holds special importance for Tottenham as they need the three points to maintain some breathing space at fourth place as Chelsea are closing in.
Tottenham have a five point lead with eight games to go and based on their current form, could find themselves out a Champions League qualifying spot for next season.
As for the teams, well one would expect http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Cudicini filled in for him in the FA Cup replay against Bolton Wanderers.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 remains the main threat up front with the Spurs striker able to cause all sorts of problems, yet Luis Saha managed to get himself on the score sheet in midweek and may just get the nod to start alongside him.
Redknapp cannot afford to take any chances this weekend and will need to play his best eleven in order to put on an assured performance and hopefully get the side out of the current slump.
As for Swansea, well, one never knows what to expect from the side and anything could happen; couple that in with Tottenham’s form and attacking style of play and one can expect an entertaining game of football.
