Tottenham Hotspur vs. West Brom - Preview

Tottenham Hotspur will play against West Brom in their first home game of the season as they look to bounce back from the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United last week.
Manager Andre Villas-Boas will be looking to seal all three points as his team starts preparation for the game against an impressive West Brom side which dismantled Liverpool 3-0 at the Hawthorns last week.
West Brom face a tough game as they travel to White Hart Lane to face a Spurs squad that is now much stronger than the one they fielded last week.
Tottenham
Villas-Boas is missing several key players, with Scott Parker out due to an ankle injury and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Younes-Kaboul-c37543 out due on account of the injury on his knee that he received at the Euros.
Tottenham’s expected starting 11 for the game will be as follows:
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 up front.
Adebayor’s arrival will bring relief to Villas-Boas who had been without a senior striker apart from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359. Defoe bagged the only Tottenham goal in the defeat to Newcastle, but is expected to start off the bench.
Rafael Van Der Vaart is also going to start the game from the bench, with other options for Villas-Boas to consider. Spurs’ depth in squad gives them the edge over West Brom as they have a number of big names that can make an impact when required.
The midfield looks strong with Sigurdsson pulling the strings right in the centre to orchestrate the attack. The Icelandic international will play right behind Adebayor and the wingers. Bale and Lennon offer pace and trickery on the wings and overall, Spurs
have a very formidable attacking line up.
In defence, the ever reliable Gallas and Vertonghen start with Walker and Assou-Ekotto on the flanks, and both players are quite capable of both attacking and defending.
West Brom
The Baggies are unlikely to have any changes from the side that saw off http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at the Hawthorns last week. The squad looks strong and is free from any sort of injuries. West Brom will be looking to continue their fine start to the new campaign through
new signings Claudio Yacob and Chelsea’s on loan striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romelu-Lukaku-c31672.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Odemwingie-c29794 will feature
further up the field, in a formation that will feed and combine with Shane Long.
Despite scoring for the Baggies from the bench last week, Lukaku is expected to start the game as a substitute, but the Belgian striker will still be keen on scoring and adding to his tally for the club.
I expect Tottenham to win this game 2-1, with Adebayor and Sigurdsson getting the goals. West Brom will manage to get a goal from the game, but not the three points.
