Tottenham Hotspur striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 warned his side that they could forget about securing a place in the top four of the English Premier League if they failed to win their fixtures over the Christmas period.
The Spurs take on Norwich City today, Tuesday, December 27, 2011, before they take on Swansea City on New Year’s Day. After that they will be playing West Bromwich Albion on January 3, 2012 at White Hart Lane. While these fixtures seem relatively easy, Adebayor
is aware victory is essential.
If the London side wish to realize their dreams of winning the English Premier League crown or even finishing in the top four to secure a spot in next seasons UEFA Champions League, they have to continue winning and cannot afford any more slip-ups.
They are currently at third place, behind Manchester City and Manchester United and were held back by the Blues in the 1-1 draw last week. To make up for the draw against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Togo-c3022 international revealed the Spurs had to return to winning ways.
Adebayor said while speaking to reporters:
“We have to do whatever it takes to win those games if we are going to finish in the top four. Otherwise, forget about it.”
He continued:
“We have to keep our head up, keep doing our thing, keep enjoying ourselves. Now we are going to play Norwich on Boxing Day. We have to do everything we have to win that game.
Then we have Swansea away, I'm not saying they are going to be easy games but if you want to be in the top four those are the types of games that you have to win home or away.”
The Manchester City striker on loan to Tottenham Hotspur, also mentioned the referees and their decisions. He claimed that while he did not agree with every decision, he had come to accept that it was all a part of football and could not be changed any time
soon.
Adebayor revealed:
“At the moment everything is going against me from the point of view of referees, but that's football to be honest.”
