Having done surprisingly well with Tottenham Hotspur this season, with the Spurs at third place on the Premier League table, some may feel it’s time for Redknapp to move on to a new challenge. The manager himself might be tempted, but King revealed he wanted
Redknapp to stay on with the London side.
In the 5-0 win over Newcastle United over the weekend, the supporters seemed to share the same view as King as they were heard chanting “We want you to stay” on several occasions during the match. According to King, the entire squad shared the sentiment.
King said while speaking to reporters:
“As a group of players we love him and hopefully he will stay. This sort of speculation always happens in football, but we would love to keep him.
Harry has brought the club on massively. We were bottom of the league when he first came in and the results picked up immediately.”
The 31-year-old believed the manager had been crucial for the club’s success this season and should remain with them to ensure a top three finish in the Premier League .
He revealed:
“He has gone from strength to strength, brought in some good players, experienced players who know what it takes. It has been really good.”
King acknowledged the fact that there was a possibility that Redknapp could be leaving the club, but felt it would not be any time soon. The centre back believed any changes in management would take place after the end of the season in the summer transfer
window.
King continued:
“We need to keep our focus until the end of the season. What will happen in the summer will happen.
I am pretty sure the gaffer will be here until then.”
