Tottenham Hotspur’s Rafael Van der Vaart believes Arsenal lack experience: EPL News
Tottenham Hotspur attacking mid-fielder has stated that the lack of experience will cost Arsenal the title and Arsene Wenger’s side has often dropped points against the top sides. He claimed that a team should be a mix of young and
experienced players in order to keep the balance right.
Tottenham will take on Arsenal in the North London derby on Wednesday, 20 April, in a clash of huge significance. The Spurs have to win in order to strengthen their hopes for UEFA Champions League qualification next year, whereas
Arsenal need to keep pressure on the leaders, Manchester United, for the Premier League title.
The Dutchman insisted that the young sides are great to watch, but are unable to cope with the pressure in big games. He praised the city rivals for their great season and admitted that it would be an open game with both teams having
a great chance of getting a result.
“Arsenal have a young team. That's the problem with a young team - once, you play fantastic, but in the other games, maybe the most important games, you drop points. They still have a fantastic team. It will be an open game. But we
showed at the Emirates a few months ago that we can beat them,” the 28-year old was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Real Madrid player also reiterated his desire to play in the Champions League but insisted that it won’t be easy. He added that Spurs will have to win all their remaining games and most importantly, the game against Arsenal.
“It's not going be easy. We have to win all our games and this is one of the most difficult games of the year. But we want to play in the Champions League next year,” the Dutch international concluded.
Rafael Van der Vaart has had a dream debut season in the English Premier League. He has been an integral part of Tottenham’s brilliant run in the Champions League this season. The midfielder has scored 12 goals in 30 appearances for
the Spurs this season after an eight million pound move from Real Madrid in the summer, last year.
