Tottenham Hotspur’s Rafael van der Vaart reveals his tough decision to leave Real Madrid – EPL News
Influential Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Rafael van der Vaart, has revealed that it was a hard decision for him to leave Read Madrid but has claimed that he ‘fell in love’ with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Dutch midfielder joined the Spurs from Spanish Giants, Real Madrid, for a fee believed to be £7 million on the deadline day of the last summer’s transfer window.
Van der Vaart has now revealed that the former Tottenham Hotspur midfield general, Edgar Davids, played a crucial role in the transfer, persuading him to join the White Hart Lane club.
Van der Vaart has credited Edgar Davids for his move to Tottenham Hotspurs and said, “I had some contact with Edgar, who had also played for Spurs, and he told me it was a great club and the people are good. He also said the league would fit me well,”
Van der Vaart also reiterated his decision to leave Real Madrid as he claimed that he was happy at the biggest club of the world.

They are the biggest club in the world so I was quite happy, but when Spurs came in I spoke with the manager and the chairman,

Van der Vaart was a revelation at White hart Lane in his debut Barclays Premier League season and had an outstanding start to his life at England. The former Real Madrid man scored three goals in his first four League matches and never looked back after
that.
