Tottenham Hotspurs Rivalry, Craig Bellamy Saga and the massive expenditure plan - Part 1
63-year-old Harry Redknapp will be facing despair when he bids for the Eastlands forward Craig Bellamy. It’s common knowledge that the Tottenham Hotspurs manager is after the Manchester City winger. His impeccable ability to place the ball between the defenders and their goal posts has impressed many across the world.
Tottenham is just another team amongst many others that are bidding for the forward. The 31-year-old continues to impress his fans with his flow and regularity in producing stunning shows. Nevertheless, it seems apparent that the English manager will be facing disappointment in an attempt to acquire him and the reason for that is not money.
In fact the reason for that is the enmity between the clubs, especially after last season. Both clubs have had a historical rivalry but that was taken a step ahead when Tottenham closely evaded them for the 4th position and grabbed the entry in the Champions League. Manchester City came at the 5th place in the end.
With the Eastlands’ Arab possessor Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the club has the luxury of spending millions and they have done so this year after spending more than 80 million pounds. Manager Roberto Mancini has relayed that the club has no thoughts about slowing down. He has informed the club might actually sign players till the 31st of August when the transfer deadline comes into action.
The club is widely regarded to be among the fastest growing clubs in the world but so is Tottenham. That is another reason why the clubs despise each other so much. Experts have revealed that if the club keeps on progressing, Eastlands would be among the paramount clubs of the world in the next 5 years.
They have lined up players like David Silva, Jerome Boateng, Yaya Toure, and Aleksander Koralov. An already threatening line-up of players like Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez and Patrick Evra have also been included in the list that might help the club take the English Premier League title this season. But that is not all. It is predicted that they might actually win the derby this season too.
Manchester United manger Sir Alex Ferguson has commented that Manchester City has improved a lot even though the credit goes to their money. It is known as a footballing fact that a team can’t complain if it’s lost just because they had a shortage of star players. Ferguson has acknowledged and praised the Citizens performance but has said so in his typical sarcastic style. He stated that till last year, Manchester City were just noisy neighbours. However, they’ve given him a really bad headache. Manchester City even thwarted EPL victors Chelsea on both legs of the tournament and with their team chemistry growing it seems that they might just dominate the upcoming season.
The Citizens have dominated against all major teams last season. They were also undefeated against Liverpool as they drew on both legs. They drew against Arsenal at their home but thrashed them 4-2 at home. Already having such an influence, they sure are going to make a gigantic impression in the Top 4.
