Tottenham Hotspur’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Pavlyuchenko-c31639 commits his immediate future to the club – EPL news
Tottenham Hotspur striker, Roman Pavlyuchenko, has revealed that he has no desire of leaving White Hart Lane anytime soon. It was speculated that the 29-year-old would leave the club in the summer transfer window, as he had expressed concerns regarding lack
of playing time.
Though Pavlyuchenko has been influential for Spurs this season, the striker has failed to nail down a permanent spot in the starting eleven.
The 29-year-old was the star in Tottenham’s final match of the 2010/11 Barclays Premier League season, scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory over Birmingham City to ensure the club’s place in next season’s UEFA Europa League.
But while they were able to secure a berth in the second tier European club competition, Spurs were still left ruing their lost UEFA Champions League status. The London-based club enjoyed a fantastic debut season in the 2010/11 tournament, but they will
fail to build on that thanks to their finish outside the top four of the League standings this season.
It was thought there would be an exodus of players from the club following their failure to qualify for the high-profile Champions League. But now it seems that those fears were unfounded, as a number of players, including Pavlyuchenko, have committed their
immediate futures to Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking on the matter, the 29-year-old said, “There is a strong desire to pursue a career in Tottenham, with whom I have a contract. A new contract will be discussed after the holidays - my agent will travel to London to hold talks with the leaders of Tottenham."
Though he is happy to stay at White Hart Lane for the time being, Pavlyuchenko is still concerned with manager Harry Redknapp's seemingly random team selection choices.
The striker concluded, "He [Redknapp] can play one team one week, and then play a very different team the next. It is hard to undersand. I don't think we can become champions (next season) because Manchester United are strong but we certainly are able to
take a place in the top three."
Tottenham have finished the 2010/11 Barclays Premier League campaign in fifth place, six points behind fourth placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
