Reports confirm that Tottenham Hotspur defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vedran-Corluka-c35947 has signed for Lokomotiv Moscow on a long term deal.
The 26-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kyle-Walker-c21566, who was recently labelled the best right back the London side has had so far. He has reportedly been looking for a move away from White Hart Lane
due to lack of regular football.
Corluka featured for his country in the ongoing European Championships, but was unable to help his country avoid crashing out of the tournament. However, instead of returning to Tottenham Hotspur for next season, Corluka has secured a move away to Lokomotiv
Moscow.
At the Russian side, Corluka will be reunited with Tottenham Hotspur teammate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Pavlyuchenko-c31639. The Russian international left the London side for similar reasons in the January transfer window of 2012 due to lack of first team football under then manager
Harry Redknapp.
The 30-year-old striker revealed he was extremely happy to hear the news about Corluka’s arrival at Lokomotiv Moscow. According to Pavlyuchenko, the Croatian was a brilliant defender with strength as his main advantage over the other players as he had demonstrated
in training various times.
Pavlyuchenko said in an interview:
“It's great news - the best I've heard for a week and a half. He is a very tenacious, uncompromising defender, who is practically impossible to beat one on one.
He convinced me of this in training several times.
He's physically strong and, without flatter[y], I would say that Corluka was probably the strongest defender at Tottenham.”
The head of Lokomotiv’s selection department Cyril Kotov was certain the Russian team had made the right choice by signing Corluka. He said the player had proved himself on the international stage many times and was expected to do well at his new club.
Kotov revealed:
“Vedran is one of the leaders of the Croatian national team. This is a top-level defender with great decision-making and excellent physique. A lot of European clubs would have liked to sign Vedran but he choose in our favour and this helped in our negotiations
with Tottenham.”
