Tottenham Hotspur’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/William-Gallas-c36874 admits that the current season has been disappointing for Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur defender, William Gallas, has admitted that his side has enjoyed a less than stellar campaign in the ongoing 2010/11 Barclays Premier League season. His comments come just after the Spurs were knocked out of
the Champions League spots with a defeat to Manchester City at the Eastlands.
Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a spectacular debut season in the Champions League. The London club went all the way to the quarter finals of the competition before being knocked out by Spanish giants Real Madrid. However, they will
fail to build on that foundation, as they have been unable to qualify for next season’s tournament. Their place has been taken by big spending Manchester City, who ensured their participation in Europe’s biggest club competition thanks to the recent 1-0 victory
over fifth placed Tottenham in Tuesday’s Premier League encounter.
Though some might view Tottenham’s Champions League run and top six finish in the Premier League as decent achievement, Spurs defender William Gallas is aware that his side have failed to reach the bar they set for themselves
in the previous campaign. He admitted that the team’s overconfidence might have played a part in their downfall.
Speaking on the matter, the Frenchman said, “When we play against the small teams, maybe - I say maybe - we thought we had won before we played, so perhaps that's the mistake we made. Even if people say 'you had a great season',
I don't think so. To get to the quarter-finals of the Champions League at the first attempt was amazing for Tottenham but everybody is upset because we got nothing at the end.”

for fifth place.
Modric said, “We are out of the Champions League but we now need to fight for fifth place. We need to show our character.”
Spurs are currently in sixth place in the Premier League standings with 56 points.
