Tottenham Hotspurs “need” Luis Suarez

The FIFA World Cup 2010 sensation, Luis Suarez, was not “under the radar,” of the transfer market, until now. We have heard how the player hopes to go to teams like Manchester United and Barcelona; but such teams do not need him at the moment.
However, the English team which recently won a spot in the Champion’s League definitely wants a player like Luis Suarez in their squad. Tottenham Hotspurs, who have been trying to strengthen their squad since their rival team Manchester City has invested a lot in recent days, are trying to recruit the Uruguayan player.
Their coach Harry Redknapp wants a player like Luis Suarez who can be the “soul striker” for the team and score lots of goals as a 4-2-3-1 formation would be much suitable during the Champions League, as said by their manager.
Luis Suarez had an amazing season at his current club, Ajax. He scored 49 goals in only 46 games. His performance in his current club, Ajax, is simply remarkable and many teams have been eyeing him; but his club demands “too high a price,” for the player.
The Uruguayan was the hero for his nation as he and Diego Forlan of Atletico Madrid, were the two players who helped their team advance to the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2010. Uruguay started their FIFA World Cup 2010 by being paired up in a tough group. They had the host nation, South Africa, the European team France and the South American side Mexico, in their group.
Nobody thought that it was going to be Uruguay that would advance to the next round as the winners of the group. They faced France in their first match; the match ended in a goalless draw as the Uruguayans kept troubling the European side time and time again. Their captain, Diego Forlan, and the other striker, “Luis Suarez,” were the two key players who kept on making moves into the 18 yard box and kept on threatening the French defence.
Their second match was against the host nation, South Africa, and they won the match 3-0. Two of the goals in that match came from the right-foot of the golden ball winner, Diego Forlan. Even though Luis Suarez was not showing his full potential, yet, but later he showed the world what he was made of. In their third match, Suarez scored the only goal of the match to top the group, only to avoid a clash with Argentina in the pre-quarter final stage.
During the pre-quarter finals, they had to face the Koreans. Luis Suarez scored the first goal of the match to make it 1-0. Later, the Koreans scored an equalizer as the Uruguayans went too defensive. Right after the 80th minute mark, Luis Suarez struck again, with a fabulous goal from right inside the left-hand-side of the 18 yard box. The goal is still known to be “one of the best goals” in the FIFA World Cup 2010.
Just because of his two goals, Uruguay qualified for the quarter finals, and they had to face Ghana. This was the match where Luis Suarez actually showed the world that he is not an ordinary player. The match was tied 1-1 after the 90th minute mark and the match was going through its last stages and right after the 120th minute mark, penalties were going to take place. Right when the match was about to end, Ghanaians won themselves a free-kick right outside the box. The free-kick was delivered inch perfect as Asamoah Gyan was the one to head it home but not until Luis Suarez was the player who used his hands to block the ball from going inside the net. The day was saved by Suarez as he helped his team advance to the semi-finals, but not without a sacrifice. He was red carded and he had to miss the semi-final because of that. Nothing would have been possible without the help of Gyan who missed the penalty as Uruguay advanced to the semi-finals winning the penalty shootout.
Even though Luis Suarez was not a part of the match between Uruguay and Netherlands; he did play against Germany in the 3rd and 4th place match and performed really well. The Uruguayan is definitely an amazing talent but Ajax demands at least 35 million pounds for the youngster. He told the press that he wanted to join clubs like Barcelona and Manchester United but such clubs are not really interested in the player yet. Is Harry Redknapp going to get Luis Suarez? Let us wait till the 1st of August when the summer transfer window closes!
