In the second part of this featured series, we suggested that Tottenham Hotspur should go in for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 Forlan and Harry Redknapp should take a look into his team’s offensive woes in a much more comprehensive manner than he did
in the January transfer window. Redknapp did make a last minute move for Andy Carroll in the January transfer window but Tottenham lacked the funds which http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 had and thus it was the Reds who eventually managed to cough up a 35 million pound fee for the
English striker.
Now in the summer transfer window, Emmanuel Adebayor looks like a good option for Tottenham. At the moment, Tottenham are in cruise mode in the summer transfer window. Harry Redknapp has already come out and said that his team
will only invest in two to three world class players in order to strengthen their squad but their main focus will be to hold onto their own superstars such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857.
Given the way Tottenham play with a 4-4-1-1 format in the past season, it is difficult to say that the front target-man’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 won’t be ideal for Adebayor. The Togolese striker has gone through a rough patch in his career ever since
his departure to Manchester City from Arsenal. At City, Adebayor faced serious issues both in terms of his mental health as well as in terms of his career as a footballer. After the Togo-bus shooting incident in which Adebayor barely escaped death, he went
into a depression mode which was further compounded by the fact that he was not getting regular first team action with Manchester City.
Recently Adebayor’s career was reinvigorated when Jose Mourinho put his trust in the experienced striker and brought him on loan to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid in order to compensate for Gonzalo Higuain’s injury in December of 2010. At Madrid,
Adebayor scored eight goals for Los Blancos in 22 appearances. The first signings of Adebayor’s possible move to Tottenham emerged in the last days of the Premier League season when British media quoted the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 star as he accepted that he would
like to play for Tottenham in the Premier League.
In the past Adebayor has had a woeful relationship with Tottenham’s fans. Some sections of the White Hart Lane crowd have jeered the striker when he took the field against them for Arsenal and Manchester City. Minorities have even
racially abused him which took a heavy toll on his morale as a footballer. Nonetheless, Tottenham remains a favourite destination for Adebayor. At 27 years of age, a probable four deal with Spurs’ will be the last big contract of his career and with his best
year’s ahead of him, Adebayor will fit into the Tottenham mould perfectly.
When making a bid for Adebayor, Redknapp won’t even have to worry about the fact that the player is not tried and tested in the English league. With Adebayor, experts acknowledge his prowess in the air and on the ground as well.
Whilst playing as a solitary striker in an ordinary Arsenal side, Emmanuel scored 30 goals in the 2007-2008 season and then 19 in the 2008-2009 season, if he manages to produce such figures for Tottenham, Redknapp would’ve struck goal without any shadow of
a doubt.
