Tottenham Hotspurs versus Aston Villa – Preview (Part 1)
Saturday is no less of a game as two bitter rivals from the West of London line up for combat in order to attain control of top half of the English Premier League table.
Last season both teams impressed their fans with spectacular performances. The Spurs made their first Champions League appearance this season reaping the fruits from the seeds of toil and hard work they had sown last season.
In the season of 2009-10 the men from White Hart Lane managed to ensure their appearance in the most coveted league of Europe in a thriller as they won their last match, which booked their place in the tournament.
Spurs under the leadership of the English manager, Harry Redknapp, took the 4th position in EPL. However, this season their performance has been a bit under par as they currently reside at the 8th position on the table. They have played 8 matches and acquired 8 points while their most impressive player was Gareth Bale having scored two goals and a couple of assists.
The man that will make an enigmatic appearance in the match will be their defender and captain Ledley King but after his injuries even his presence in the team has not been guaranteed yet.
King has been fighting groin injuries continuously along with his age old knee damage. If he is in the start line up in the match he will be playing alongside Sebastien Bassong as William Gallas is struggling with his groin injury and Younes Kaboul is managing his hamstring problems.
Other men that will be missing the match, being on a long term absence are, Jermain Defoe, Michael Dawson, as they suffer from ligament damage along with Jamie O'Hara, who is out of because of a back injury and Jonathan Woodgate suffered groin strains.
The manager, Harry Redknapp, has stated that he will be able to manage the team without the men on sidelines. He also praised and welcomed the ex-Liverpool manger, Gerard Houllier, back to the English league.
In a press conference he stated, “He's a great football man so it's good to have him back in the game. It was a big shock Martin left, for sure”.
He also praised the Villains saying, “But they've got a very, very good group of players there, who last year were always pushing for a top-four finish”.
He added, “They've been a top-six team for the last couple years and they'll be right there again this year, I'm sure”.
