Tottenham Hotspurs marched into the 4th round of the FA by brushing aside Charlton 3-0 at home. Charlton tried to put up a real fight, but Tottenham were still able to walk all over them.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andros-Townsend-c6023, the 19 year old, was the first to score; he smashed in a low drive just after the break. Jermain Defoe then struck twice to stamp the Spurs’ authority in the game and killed off the resilient fight by Charlton.
Jermain Defoe, who made his way back in the team after serving his suspension, looked to be in great touch and hungry for goals. It was also an interesting game for him as Charlton was where he started his career. The first half of the match had been a bit
slow, but the London team certainly sprang into life in the 2nd period and ran all over Charlton.
Even though Defoe knocked in two goals, it would be the youngster, Townsend, who would be on the minds of the Spurs fans. The 19 year old was on loan at Ipswich but was recently called back after his deal was terminated and made his presence felt even when
playing alongside Jermain Defoe.
Charlton, who are 45 places and 2 divisions below Tottenham and without a manager at the moment, didn't get many chances as Tottenham had the ball most of the time.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-c9045 Dailly was also doing well in defence, and he managed to stop a shot from Defoe.
The opening goal finally came after the restart. Townsend continued to be lively on the wing and made a good run to get onto a pass from Sandro and wasted little time in unleashing a fierce drive that ended up in back of the net.
After the first goal, Tottenham were on fire and went in search for more. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 was getting in his elements and was making searing runs right, left and centre. Kranjcar played a good ball to Defoe and after beating the defender, the front man smashed
the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0. Defoe was not happy with just one and wanted to make his comeback a memorable one; he looked determined to get more and got his wish. He made an excellent run from the left and beat two defenders before playing
a one two with Kranjcar and slotting the ball into the bottom left to make it 3, and secured a safe passage for his team to the 4th round of the FA Cup.
