Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp in pursuit of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044
Tottenham is being linked with a striving attempt to sign Chelsea’s striker Didier Drogba as the season ends. Harry Redknapp, the Spurs boss hopes to bid for the Ivorian to bring in fresh firepower to his squad.
The attacker has been warming the substitutes’ bench in recent weeks following the prominent signing of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 in the January transfer. Rumours have since been circulating that Drogba would end his seven-year stay at Stamford Bridge this season
when his contract ends.
Last month he threatened to leave the Blues but then overtly said that he was satisfied with the current situation at his club, however, it is being alleged that he is likely to change his mind by the end of the season.
Spurs are frantic to fuel their front force with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 have not given a promising performance so far this season.
Redknapp is determined to change his squad by clearing out his strikers and is planning on massive transfers this summer, and Drogba is a first choice for him.
Chelsea is apparently on the lookout for an additional, younger, striker this transfer season. With Roman Abramovich, the club owner is planning a massive revamp of his team, Drogba could still be on the way out of the club.
Abramovich is ardent to lower the average age at Stamford Bridge and with Drogba at the wrong side being 32, it is thought that the Russian could cash in when the transfer window opens again at the end of the season.
Recently, clubs including his former club Marseille, Real Madrid and Galatasaray have shown interested in the striker.
Marseille have always been publicized as a possible destination at the end of his career, but despite being 32, Drogba is far from close to retirement.
Abramovich is also assumed to be interested in signing the Brazilian star Kaka to Chelsea this season, and is willing to send Drogba back together with his old boss Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeau to counterbalance the deal. Drogba can be predicted to move
to a club like Real Madrid, but the second rumor seems much more unlikely.
The Blues will have to decide if they are to give him a contract extension or let him go this summer, but it remains to be answered if they will put up with a move from Chelsea to Tottenham, maybe if the cash is right. Drogba though may plan to stay in London,
making a move to Tottenham a realistic one, especially if Spurs qualify for the Champions League again next season.
