Tottenham clinch Rafael Van der Vaart in dying minutes

The English Premier League have officially managed to conclude their investigation regarding whether or not the full details of Rafael Van der Vaart's signings were completed before the closing of the transfer deadline.
Due to some technical errors that Tottenham's servers were having, the deal was prevented to go through before the 6pm dead line on the 31st of August. However, Tottenham have now officially completed the eight million pound signing of the twenty seven year old Dutch midfielder.
The Premier Leagues representatives said in a press release, "The Premier League can confirm the transfer of Rafael van der Vaart's registration from Real Madrid to Tottenham Hotspur."
Tottenham announced: "We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Rafael van der Vaart."
The Dutch international started his playing career in the Eredivisie. He scored around sixty goals in the hundred and forty one appearances that he made for Ajax before departing for Hamburg in the summer of 2005.
Van der Vaart, has managed to appear for the national side, a total of eighty three times. In this spell the player has scored sixteen goals. He managed to make his international debut for the team at the age of eighteen, in a match played against Andorra in 2001.
In response to the last minute transfer the player was reported to have said, "The interest from Tottenham came very quick and I did not have much time to think.
"But I want to play football again and if possible every week, with a beautiful club. I'm totally happy.
"I am excited about playing in England. Whether it suits my style remains to be seen, but I think a good footballer can adapt and I am very proud of this transfer."
He added: "It's a pity I cannot now play against Ajax in the Champions League but I will get to face FC Twente."
It is also reported that the Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp was made aware of the player availability, only two hours before the transfer window closed. However the manager acted just in time and managed to secure a move for the midfielder who could prove to help provide the much needed experience in the Tottenham midfield.
The signature of Van der Vaart also marks the coming of a new era at the London club, who will be looking to have one of their best seasons in years. The team will also be hoping that their new signing proves to be instrumental in the team staying in the Champions League for much longer than they are expected to.
