Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed to sign Manchester United starlet Zeki Fryers. Should these rumours be accurate, the 19-year old will move to White Hart Lane following the conclusion of a tribunal between both clubs.
Various newspapers in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 claimed that new Portuguese manager Andre Villas-Boas was leading the chase for the highly rated United youngster. The full-back is expected to join Villas-Boas within a week after he bailed out on training with Manchester United,
where his contract ended in June.
Reports also suggest that Spurs are willing to pay £2 million for the young full-back whereas Manchester United are asking for double the amount.
United are believed to have been outraged by the player’s behaviour as they have already lost midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Pogba to Juventus and Ravel Morrison to West Ham recently. Losing another promising youngster may prove to be too much for the former English champions.
The 19-year old youngster has reportedly accepted a £20,000-a-week contract with the North London club and has refused a contract with United on grounds that it did not meet the player’s wage demands.
United are supposed to receive compensation for this transfer since they brought Fryers up through their youth system. The fee is expected to be decided by an independent tribunal where the transfer fee is also set to be agreed.
Fryers has been informed that he is to be made part of Villas-Boas’s plans for next summer and will be competing for a spot with new teammate Benoit Assou-Ekotto. Fryers is excited by the prospect of playing for Villas-Boas and with Tottenham already rebuilding
their squad, Fryers looks like the latest addition. New signing Gylfi Sigurdsson was announced a few days ago and Belgian centre half http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 is expected to arrive later this week.
Regarding the young full-back, Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson had this to say to Manchester United Television:
"We haven't heard anything from Zeki Fryers. I don't know what's happening there but he's not been in touch with the club. His agent hasn't been in touch with the club and I can only assume he'll be back for training."
Fryers marks the third departure of high-profile youngsters who have left Old Trafford this summer.
