It is beleived that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 is edging closer to securing his move to Tottenham, following some recent developments.
Vertonghen’s transfer clause states that the player is entitled to 15 percent of any transfer fee involved in his sale. Ajax were unwilling to pay the proposed amount, and Tottenham were unable to match Ajax’s valuation of the Belgian centre
half. It looked like a deal would not happen and Vertonghen would end up playing football at Ajax this season.
This looked even more likely when he resumed pre-season training with his Ajax teammates on Monday. Speaking to a Dutch magazine, Ajax coach Frank de Boer was quoted:
"Last week we’ve talked with Jan [Vertonghen] and his manager and everyone is now up to date.”
"Because Ajax and Tottenham have not agreed yet, Jan starts with us today."
The player’s representative however claimed earlier today that Vertonghen is edging closer to signing for Tottenham, and an announcement may be made about the player’s transfer by Friday.
"We have scheduled a meeting on Friday morning, where we will try and reach an agreement with Ajax," a spokesperson for Nakhli Mondial, Vertonghen’s agent, said to the Dutch media."

"There are some developments and we hope to reach an agreement."
Spurs have already gone through major changes. New manager and Harry Redknapp’s successor, Andre Villas-Boas, arrived earlier this week after his brief stint at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. The Portuguese manager has already signed Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson and
is looking at other transfer targets in an attempt to assemble a new look Tottenham squad.
Brazilian midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408.
Things look good for Tottenham, who have reportedly handed Villas-Boas an astounding sum of £70 million for transfers. Vertonghen looks like he’ll be joining Sigurdsson at White Hart Lane this summer. Who else joins them there remains to be seen.
