Tottenham Hotspur look set to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 on a permanent deal following his successful season-long loan from Manchester City last season.
Adebayor joined Spurs on a season long loan as he fell out of favour at the Etihad Stadium. The Togolese international scored 17 Premier League goals for Tottenham and was an important part of the squad as they looked to secure a Champions League spot.
The striker has one year remaining on his £170,000-a-week contract with Manchester City and is keen on signing for the North London outfit as it is clear that he is not part of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini’s plans for next season.
Tottenham are reportedly ready to offer the striker a massive signing-on fee and will attempt to fit him into club chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy’s pay structure.
It was believed that Adebayor was unwilling to sign for Tottenham earlier because the club was not willing to match the salary he received at City. However, this new deal is expected to be agreed upon soon and the Togolese forward will complete the switch
before the transfer window closes.
New Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is likely to deploy a 4-3-3 formation next season, with Adebayor as the leading striker.
Tottenham’s move for Adebayor could have implications for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380, who is linked to Manchester City.
City are currently trying to off-load their out of favour strikers, and it looks like Adebayor will be the first one to leave the Eastlands.
Adebayor arrived at Arsenal from French club Monaco in 2006 for a reported fee of £7 million. He had an impressive three seasons with the Gunners, scoring 46 goals in 104 appearances. He then joined Manchester City in 2009 and scored 15 goals for them in
34 appearances. The forward was pushed down the pecking order as City initiated their spending spree and assembled a squad which had no place for the Togolese striker.
He then spent two loan spells away from City, the first with Spanish giants Real Madrid and the second with Tottenham Hotspur. It looks like the latter will be the striker’s permanent home once a deal is finalized between both clubs.
