After successfully securing the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 earlier this year in the summer transfer window, the Spurs have set their sights on the Belgian stopper to strengthen their back-line further.
Reports in English and Dutch media indicate that Tottenham Hotspur are taking keen interest in acquiring the services of Ajax Amsterdam centre-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toby-Alderweireld-c35183, in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Spurs successfully managed to lure Jan Vertonghen from Amsterdam Arena to White Hart Lane earlier this year in the summer transfer market, and the Belgian central defender has thus far impressed many with his dazzling shows for Lilywhites.
And Andre Villas-Boas, Tottenham head coach, has now expressed his desire to further strengthen his side’s back-line in the upcoming winter transfer window, with Alderweireld as a perfect addition to his squad.
The 23-year-old, who came through the ranks of the fabled Amsterdammers youth academy, started his professional career debut at Amsterdam Arena in the 2008/09 season.
The highly-rated central defender has thus far donned the jersey of De Joden in well over 100 games. The talented stopper has not only established himself as one of the best defenders playing in the highest echelons of Dutch football, his knack of scoring
spectacular goals quite often differentiates him from other centre-backs.
If rumours are to be believed, AC Milan, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 all are interested in signing the highly-rated central defender in the upcoming January transfer market.
Alderweireld, who has thus far represented http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 in 19 matches as well, has an ongoing contract at Amsterdam Arena that runs until the summer of 2014. However, reports indicate that an offer in the region of 12 million Euros would be enough to acquire
the services of the Belgian international.
Tottenham, who are currently sitting fourth on the English Premier League table, have thus far only conceded 13 goals in nine league matches. Should Andre Villas-Boas manage to lure the Belgian stopper to White Hart Lane this January, it will certainly further
strengthen the Spurs’ back-line and enhance their chances of finishing in the top four sides at the end of the ongoing 2012/13 campaign.
