Tottenham Hotspur may finally be ready to sell their coveted midfielder Luka Modric.
The Croatian has been the subject of much speculation linking him with a move away from White Hart Lane, and it looks like Tottenham have finally agreed to let him go.
Earlier in June this year, Modric had revealed his desire to leave Tottenham in search of Champions League football after the team failed to qualify for the tournament, despite finishing fourth in the league. They have a certain West London club to thank
for this, who are incidentally champions of Europe.
Modric’s agent had apparently met with Spanish giants Real Madrid, with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris-Saint Germain also keen on signing the playmaker.
Sources in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 suggested that the North London club would be willing to part ways with their star player only if an offer of dfmore than £40 million was made.
The player maker went on to state: "I'm going to play in the Champions League; I want to win that competition. I'm not going to be able to achieve my dream here."
Earlier today sources suggested that the club have evaluated the situation and will finally be willing to let the Croatian leave this summer.
"The feeling is that Modric, no matter how talented, doesn't score enough goals from his position. It has been suggested that Real Madrid are after him, but I am not so sure. It sounds more like clubs are being alerted that Modric can now be bought.”
The source also claimed that Modric will be sold in order to raise money for transfers and buy more players to build the Tottenham squad.
New manager Andre Villas-Boas was looking forward to working with the Croatian, having failed in attempts to sign him at his short stint at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 last season. However, it looks as if the Portuguese manager will have to do without the Modric in his plans.
Real Madrid’s first priority was to sign Manchester City’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857.
Spurs might have to lower their valuation of the midfielder, but there is a huge chance that Modric will be a Madrid player once the new football season starts.
