Tottenham Hotspur have recently fined Croatian midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857. The club has issued separate fines to the player for missing a training session with the squad on Friday and refusing to travel with the squad for their pre-season tour of the

Sources in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 say that Tottenham have ordered the Croatian to report back for training on Monday and are prepared to fine him a third time should he fail to do so. Currently, the fine that has been issued is £80,000 and could exceed £160,000 should
Spurs wish to exact maximum punishment.
The Croatian has long been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 the most prominent suitors for the past two seasons. Current Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas had tried signing the player while in charge of the Blues last season, but
had seen both his bids for the player rejected by Spurs.
Tottenham were clearly not willing to part ways with their star midfielder, knocking back reported bids believed to be worth £30 million and £35 million by Chelsea. However, this season the club have admitted to losing the player, amidst interest from the
likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants are currently leading the chase to sign the Croatian, but are unwilling to meet Tottenham’s £40 million valuation as they value Modric at £27 million. Tottenham have stated that they’ll only let Modric leave if their asking price is met.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is known to be a tough negotiator, and has clearly informed all interested clubs that Tottenham will not do business at a price lower than the one they have set for Modric.
Modric’s behaviour has upset both the manager and the chairman. Andre Villas-Boas has been a long term admirer of the Croatian, but admitted that he was disappointed by his behaviour and his refusal to travel and train with the team. Speaking to the press,
Villas-Boas said:
"I think Modric is wrong. This will go against him," Villas-Boas is reported as saying in Spanish newspaper AS. "He has worsened the situation with what he's doing and now the chairman [Daniel Levy] is very angry.”
"This is also not a good time for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy, who is in the USA at the moment, because his wife is ill."
