Tottenham in for Rondon as Adebayor move stalls

It was reported earlier that Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a move for Malaga’s Venezuelan striker Jose Salomon Rondon as a move for Manchester City’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 had apparently stalled.
Adebayor spent last season on loan at White Hart Lane, scoring 18 goals along the way. The Togolese striker enjoyed his time with Spurs, which saw him turn from villain to hero in a matter of minutes.
It was suggested that Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas was keen on a permanent move for Adebayor and wanted to include him in his long-term plans for the club.
Spurs are currently short staffed in the striker department, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 the only central striker they have. Defoe has been linked with a move away from the club, having fallen out of favour and used primarily as a substitute.
Adebayor was expected to complete his transfer by the end of this week, but it seems a deal is nowhere near completion.  English newspapers reported that the 28-year old striker returned to training with the English champions today after seeing a move to
Tottenham get delayed. The striker has not played in a Manchester City jersey for a year and a half now, having served two loan spells at Real Madrid and later at Tottenham Hotspur.
It is believed that an unavailability of funds is the primary reason behind the failure to acquire the striker. Adebayor was willing to take a cut in the £175,000 weekly wage he received at City, with Tottenham believed to be ready to pay him a massive signing-on
fee. But as of now, the deal has failed to materialize.
The Togolese forward had cost City an astounding £ 25 million from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, but is expected to move to Tottenham for just £6 million.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have begun to look at other transfer targets, with reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 claiming that the club are interested in Malaga’s Jose Salomon Rondon. The 22-year old striker helped Malaga to a fourth place finish in La Liga and score 27 goals in
two seasons for the Spanish club.
Spurs boss Villas-Boas, short of striking fire-power will be hoping to resolve his striker situation as soon as possible. The manager is believed to be keen on signing two forwards, even if Defoe (who is linked to Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314) ends up staying at
the club.
