Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly linked with Newcastle United's midfield enforcer Cheick Tiote, with reports claiming that the Ivorian is on top of Andre Villas-Boas’s wish list-this summer.
Andre Villas-Boas had identified a host of players as potential Tottenham transfer targets as he attempts to assemble a new-look Tottenham squad. Tottenham have been surprisingly active and involved in this summer’s transfer window so far, having already
acquired Gylfi Sigurdsson, while they are still being linked to several other big names.
Cheick Tiote looks like the latest player to be linked with the North London club. Villas-Boas has been a long admirer of Tiote, having followed him during his brief stint as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager. It looks like the Portuguese manager is now ready to rekindle
his interest in the Ivorian powerhouse.
Tiote arrived at Newcastle in 2010 for a fee of £3.5 million from Dutch club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233. Although notorious for rushing into tackles, Tiote is an aggressive player who works hard for the team and is quick at intercepting loose balls and initiating attacks.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Manchester United and Manchester City are also said to be interested in Tiote, having followed him ever since his move to Newcastle United.
Newcastle value Tiote at £15 million, but will probably be looking for a price much higher than this figure.
The 25-year old has denied all transfer talks and insisted that he is not quitting the Magpies any time soon. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew will also not be keen on selling his big name players as he attempts to build a squad that will be able to compete in all major competitions.
It is highly unlikely that Tiote will opt for a switch to North London, with the Europa League the only attractive proposition they will be able to provide. Tiote has already helped Newcastle secure a spot in the competition last season, and will be looking
forward to staying with the Magpies and continuing his work there.
Despite this fact, Tottenham’s summer spending may prove to be vital in sttracting other players to the club. If Tottenham get two or more major signings, White Hart Lane may become an attractive destination for up and coming players. Time will tell.
