Tottenham Hotspur star player Gareth Bale is hoping to get over the 5-2 derby defeat against Arsenal last week, and insists that the spirit of the team will see them through for the rest of the season.
Spurs travelled to the Emirates last week to face fierce local rivals Arsenal in the North London derby with both teams in desperate need of a result. The visitors started the game brightly and looked comfortable and in cruise control.
Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998 failed to deal with. The away fans were ecstatic as Tottenham took the lead, and Arsenal looked shell-shocked.
However, things quickly turned around when Adebayor was sent off just minutes later for his reckless lunge on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santi-Cazorla-c32505. The Togolese left his team a man down, and Arsenal took full advantage of Spurs’ disadvantage.
The Gunners went on to score three goals in the first half through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 and Olivier Giroud. Tottenham looked battered and out of ideas as Arsenal dominated possession and won all the midfield battles.
Arsenal scored two more in the second half and ended Tottenham’s humiliation in another emphatic derby victory. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 had scored a consolation goal for Spurs, but it would mean little in the face of such a huge defeat.
Manager Andre Villas-Boas chose to be upbeat about his team’s ‘fighting’ performance and insisted that they will bounce back, despite having lost three Premier League games in a row now.
Gareth Bale also holds the same opinion, and believes Tottenham will be fine. The player said:
“We started well, felt in control, got an early goal and the lads were confident that we’d see out the rest of the game or even take the game to them and score more goals. It was obviously disappointing in the end but the lads showed spirit, we fought back
and tried to attack at every chance.”
“If the lads show that spirit in every game with 11 men, I’m sure we’ll be fine. We’ve just got to pick ourselves up from here and go again.”
