Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp surprised by Arsenal’s position in Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that he is amazed by Arsenal’s current Premier League position.
The Spurs boss claims that Arsenal could have been favourites to win the Premier League title in the ongoing 2010-11 season had they not dropped crucial points in the run-in to the campaign. Redknapp’s comments come just before Arsenal travel to White Hart
Lane for their vital Premier League encounter.
It is no secret that Harry Redknapp is a huge admirer of the current Arsenal side. The enigmatic Englishman has tipped the Gunners to overtake Manchester United in the race for the Premier League crown on numerous occasions throughout the ongoing season.
However, it seems as if Redknapp has been forced to change his mind.
The Gunners could have kept alive their wafer thin hopes of a title challenge had they managed to beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 over the weekend. However, Dirk Kuyt’s 100th minute penalty ensured that both sides walked away with a point each. The result has
almost surely ended any remaining hope of silverware for Arsenal.
Arsenal are currently in second place in the League standings, six points behind the Red Devils. With just five games of the campaign left to contest, even the most optimistic of Gunners fans will have written off their chances of Premier League glory this
season.
However, manager Arsene Wenger has stated that his players will fight until the very end, and they will be out to prove a point when they face rivals Tottenham Hotspur in a few days time. It something that the Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is acutely aware of.
Speaking ahead of the match, Redknapp said, “They had a couple of games at home they would have thought they should have won and they threw a great opportunity away after they only took a point at the weekend (against Liverpool). If they had taken those
points, you look at where they would be with Man United to play at home - they would have been in pole position. It's amazing how it's turned out.”
Tottenham are currently in fifth place in the Premier League standings.
