Tottenham manager in the running to be next England boss
Tottenham's manager Harry Redknapp has officially been made a part of the running to become the next manager of England, according to the Football Association's general secretary Alex Horne.
Horne has gone ahead and stated, that he wishes for Redknapp to be on the list of contenders, for when Fabio Capello's successor is chosen in the near future. However The FA at the same time are also being insistent on the fact that the next manager of England
should not be an English national.
Horne is reported to have said: "Harry Redknapp is a great manager. Tottenham are playing great football and to qualify well for the Champions League (knockout stage) from a position of being fourth favourites in the group is huge testimony to that.
"I would expect Harry to make a long list (for the England job). It may not be a very long long list."
What Horne has gone on to do, is reveal to the world that the talks of the next manager for the English national team are already in the works. Capello has made it no secret that he will retire as manager once the Euro 2012 comes to an end and by then The
FA will have more than enough time to appoint a worthy successor, who might actually help the English national team win something for a change.
Horne went on to add that Capello was here for the next year and a half, so that meant the board had more than enough time to discuss the teams future. However he went on to state that the board had to fight hard to sign Capello in the past and that him
along with a few others were looking to fight again to appoint the right man to succeed the Italian.
However the only stumbling block in the way to Redknapp landing the job is the fact that he is English and one of the only rules that the board have at the moment is the fact that the next manager cant be, English. However they might have to reconsider their
decision if Redknapp gives them something to think about.
