Tottenham sign Anthony Lozano, Almunia considering his options away from Arsenal
London based club Tottenham are believed to have completed the signing of Anthony Lozano. The Honduras Striker who was very impressive for the country’s under-17 team was in London for a trial and is believed to have impressed the Spurs manager.
Lozano was at Spurs for a 10 day trial, and was tested by the managerial staff of Harry Redknapp. The manager himself was convinced that the young front man has the potential to make it in the Premier League. The striker had been playing for CD Olimpia before making his way to Tottenham.
Lozano played 8 matches for the under 17 Honduras team and scored 11 goals, Spurs quickly approached him and asked him to come for a trial.
He is believed to be one of the most promising players in Honduras. This is not the first time Spurs have signed a Honduran player, Wilson Palacios is also currently in the Spurs squad and the young man will feel more at home with his compatriot by his side.
Meanwhile Arsenal’s goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has started to consider his options, following the club’s relentless bid to sign the Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer. If the deal between Arsenal and Fulham does go through, which actually looks likely now, it is believed that Almunia will make his way out of the Emirates. He is said to be unhappy with not being the number one keeper in the squad, and wants first team football.
Almunia is reportedly considering moving back to Spain. Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager is not only considering Mark Schwarzer, but is also interested in attaining the services of Liverpool’s Pepe Reina or Manchester City’s Joe Hart. Considering all of that it is pretty clear that Almunia will be making his way out of Arsenal.
The Spanish keeper did not help his cause at Arsenal with number of bloopers last season. Even home fans booed him in a match. It was only lack of backup in the squad that prevented Wenger from putting him on the bench. Luis Fabianski, the number 2 at Arsenal also had his share of howlers and if Wenger does manage to get a reputable keeper Almunia will surely drop down in the pecking order.
Looking at other news from English football Moussa Demble, the striker from AZ Alkmaar has suggested that he will like to make a move to Fulham instead of Birmingham.
Birmingham had been in talks with front man, but City manager Alex McLeish has said that the front man may not be interested in coming to Birmingham and may prefer going to Fulham.
Demble while talking to a newspaper said that, he wants to join English football and wants to be part of a club where he can take his career to another level. He said that Fulham had immense success last season, and the way they made their way to the final of Europa league says a lot about the aspirations of the club. He added that being part of such a club will do wonders to his career and may help him making his way into a top club in Europe next season. Demble said that he is only 23 right now, and this is the right time for him to make the move. He said that Mark Hughes is a brilliant manager and he has no doubts that he will be able to emulate the success of Roy Hodgson. The striker from Alkmaar said that he has been watching English football for a while and has no doubts that he will be able to adapt to their style of football in no time.
