Tottenham sign Rafael van der Vaart
Tottenham have signed Dutch international Rafael van der Vaart.

Tottenham were waiting for an approval from the Premier League to see whether they had signed the 27-year old before the transfer window closed at 18.00GMT yesterday.

Van der Vaart was made available for £8million after his move to Bayern Munich, which would have cost £18million, fell through.

Van der Vaart has played in the Champions League for Ajax, Hamburg and Real Madrid, and has represented his country on 83 occasions, scoring 16 times.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp left the club’s training ground yesterday and was confident the deal would go through.

A statement from Tottenham’s official club website said: “We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Rafael Van der Vaart.”
