Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has said that he will allow the Spurs players to have ‘two or three’ Christmas parties as the festive season approaches.
The Portuguese manager is taking a more relaxed stance on the situation as compared to predecessor Harry Redknapp, who is now in charge of Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314. Redknapp has recently just confirmed cancelling QPR’s festivities and insists that they must focus
on their Premier League form, which has been dismal since the start of the season.
QPR are still without a win in the league, and have struggled despite signing a number of big name players. Harry Redknapp was appointed as manager following the sacking of Mark Hughes, who was unable to lead the Hoops to a single victory in the league.
Villas-Boas however insists that his players have deserved a break after picking up three successive victories in the league. Tottenham had a very torrid early November and had lost three successive games before picking up a hat-trick of victories later
on. Speaking to reporters, Villas-Boas said:
“We will try to have to three parties. It’s normal. It’s part of our group spirit. I don’t think it will affect performances. We will try to gather the group, to have dinner together and go on from there.”
The manager has been delighted by his team’s ability to bounce back from the defeats, and move up to 4th spot on the league table. Tottenham cruised to an impressive 0-3 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage last weekend, and now face an away
trip to Goodison Park against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043.
The manager also revealed injury news regarding midfielder Scott Parker, who has made his first step towards a first team return after only playing one game this season.
The 32-year old recently played the full 90 minutes of a 5-1 reserve friendly against Ipswich at Spurs’ Lodge training ground as the player recovers from his Achilles tendon injury. Villas-Boas added:
"We have players coming back to fitness and Scott can be so important for us. He was player of the season last year and we expect him to be one of our main strengths. He hasn't lost his abilities. Now we have resumed light training with him, he has been
absolutely amazing."
