Tottenham vs Everton- full time report
Tottenham Hotspurs and Everton shared the spoils at White Hart Lane, as a hard fought match ended in a 1-1 draw. The first half had seen plenty of action and both goals also came in the first 45 minutes. There was no shortage of action in the 2nd
half but the killing instinct in front of goal was not there for either team.
Tottenham dominated the early proceedings of the match and kept Everton pegged back in their own half. However, it was Everton who took the lead from a set play. Leighton Baines curled in a perfectly placed free kick in the top right corner, as Gomes stood
flat footed.
Tottenham did not waste much time in getting on level terms, it was once again the Dutchman who got them level. Van der Vaart though had the easy task of rifling the ball in from inches out of the goal, after Peter Crouch had chested it towards the centre
of the goal. Everton keeper Tim Howard had gone to collect the cross but fell short and it was 1-1.
The trend continued till the first half whistle but neither of the teams was able to score.
In the 2nd half the hosts brought on Sandro for Wilson Palacios. Spurs continued from where they had left off. Gareth Bale teed up Peter Crouch just outside the penalty area and he dragged a left-foot shot off target from about 14 yards.
There was more good stuff from Spurs as Aaron Lennon's pace caused a problem down the left and Seamus Coleman who brought him down and earned himself a yellow card.
Moments later, from a cross from the right, Gareth Bale deflected a header just wide, but Younes Kaboul could not convert the header.
Everton had to work hard to close Spurs down - the movement was good, but the Toffees were doing very well to snuff them out.
The away side started to get back in the game, and from being held back in their own half they had started to push Spurs back. The more the half grew on, the more dangerous Everton started to look.
Leighton Baines got into an advanced position down the left and when the ball fell for Steven Pienaar 22 yards out, he could only slice a left-foot shot wide of Heurelho Gomes' right-hand post.
Tottenham brought on Roman Pavlyuchenko for Aaron Lennon. Gareth Bale though was not letting up and continued to run ragged on the wing. Following another one of his trademark runs the ball broke to Peter Crouch 18 yards out, but his shot was weak and bobbled
into the hands of Tim Howard.
The former Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart had been quite and out of action in the 2nd half. He took on Tim Cahill down the Spurs right and he thought he had won a corner, but the assistant to gave a goal-kick. Van der Vaart reacted
angrily and got himself booked.
The substitute Roman Pavlyuchenko got into the act and curled over a super cross from the left and it was only a fraction too high for Peter Crouch.
The sea saw match continued as Spurs and Everton continued to bombard each other’s goals. However, lack of quality in front of goal resulted in a 1-1 draw. Looking at the bigger picture maybe it was affair reflection of the game, but Harry Redknapp and
David Moess are two managers who sure would agree to disagree on that.
