Despite numerous reports that stated Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Arsenal in making a formal bid for Lyon’s French goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408, club chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed today that the North London club has made no such approach.
It was believed that Tottenham had beaten http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899.
Up until last week, Lloris was expected to be on his way out, with North London being the most likely destination. Arsenal and Tottenham were both interested in the French shot-stopper, with the latter believed to have gained the upper hand in landing his
services.
Earlier this week, Aulas had said that clubs who wanted to sign the French captain will have to act fast. He also stated that he will not allow Lloris to leave unless an offer is made that is in excess of £16 million.
Speaking to Lyon’s official website last week, Aulas said:
“Hugo told me he would leave if he had an opportunity to play in one of the five biggest European clubs.”
“If any of these clubs make a proposal to the value is €20million, it will have a good scenario. If this is not the case before July 15, it will be the Lyon for the season.”
“For now, I have not received any proposal or Arsenal or elsewhere.”
Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 were of the opinion that Tottenham Hotspur had lodged an official bid of £13 million for Lloris, who is considered as the long-term replacement for current Spurs keeper Brad Friedel, who is nearing retirement.
Other reports came out later that led many to believe that Lloris would end up as a Tottenham player within no time at all.
Today, Jean-Michel Aulas has cooled down all sorts of transfer speculation by revealing that no club has approached him regarding Lloris.
"There is no official offer for Hugo Lloris," he told L'Equipe.
"If it is not sorted out on Monday, he will stay and everyone will be happy."
Spurs already have a number of goalkeepers on their roster. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlo-Cudicini-c8340 are all currently at White Hart Lane, and it remains to be seen whether Lloris will join them or not.
