Tottenham’s boss Harry Redknapp says Modric won’t go anywhere – English Premier League
Harry Redknapp has come out and said that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 won’t be going anywhere. Redknapp elaborated on the situation surrounding the Croatian midfielder’s future at the White Hart Lane stadium after Tottenham’s defeat to Manchester
United at Old Trafford in the opening match of their 2011-2012 Premier League season.
Tottenham gave a good account of themselves in the first half where they kept pace with the defending champions and created some goal scoring chances of their own as well but as the match wore on, Harry Redknapp’s men became fatigued
as United turned on the tempo and notched up three goals. Nico Kranjcar started for Spurs in the match instead of Modric who was left out of the squad altogether because according to Redknapp, his mind was in another place.
Modric was a subject of a 22 million pound bid from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy for not allowing him to move to
Chelsea. Harry Redknapp has since been playing a role of a peacemaker between the two but Modric seems to be h**l bent on seeking a move away from the London club.
Redknapp himself is in a hard place now after Tottenham lost their first match of the season. Nonetheless, the veteran manager needs to do some business in the summer transfer window before it closes. Tottenham do need a replacement
for Modric if the playmaker leaves and they also need a striker who can produce goals for them. Spurs are thought to be in talks with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 but things remain unclear on that front for the time being. Lassana Diarra is another player who has been
linked with a move to White Hart Lane.
Tottenham’s manager spoke about Modric’s situation as he stated, “The chairman has got to sit down with him and have a chat. They obviously fell out a bit over the first meeting and maybe if they can meet and resolve the whole
situation. If Daniel tells him 'look, you're important to us, we want to keep you, we are going to get one or two players in and we are an ambitious club'. If he does that you might find the boy will be OK.”
He added, “The chairman has said to me he will look at his contract in a month or two. The chairman has said he's not going and he can't go back on that really, it's going to be very difficult for him. I'm sure he will stay; the
chairman has made his mind up. There's no point selling the lad in the window and I can't replace him.” Tottenham will hope to keep Modric and add to their squad in the remaining seven days that remain in the summer transfer window.
