Touch rugby - how to play?

I am currently in a team and know the rules but am unsure on the strategies of a winning team. is the best strategy to find quick touches in the first three touches and then when the defending team is on the back foot (i.e. disjointed defense line due to some being offside), then try to step around some of the players?

  1. I've never played touch rugby in a league but in normal rugby the  strategy is to run it up with your forwards and wear them down in the ruck and than swing it out to the backs when they are disoriented. I supposed in touch rugby you can just try to make as many people miss as possible before you get touched and that way when you swing it out you will have an overlap. You can also try misses to confuse them ( scrumhalf swinging it out to outside centre who passes it back to the inside) etc.

  2. Yes you pretty much have it right. I played rep touch for gold coast.

The 3 middle men should do "triangles" for the first 3 or 4 touches. basically the ball player retreats to dummy half who passes to a runner who angles toward the defender who just made the touch. do this 3 or 4 times and the players rotate accordingly. done at full pace you can wear out that defender, and easily find him offside, where u can burst thru, and use the 2 links and wingers to pass and step your way to the tryline.

sometimes links or wingers can be involved as one of the 3 players doing the 'triangles' to give the middle men a break.
