Touch screen not responding. My touch screen stopped responding but I could still use the arrow

My touch screen stopped responding but I could still use the arrow keys and wheel. That was before I did a hard reset and now I can't get past the "align screen" feature being as though I can't tap the screen and get a response.. Do you know what I can do to solve this problem? Im using the Cingular 8525.
