Touchdown reversal spoils Brett Favre's return to Lambeau
It looked like Brett Favre had conjured up another miracle with a late touchdown pass to Percy Harvin. If the play had not been overturned, it would have given the Vikings a win against the Packers in Favre's return to Lambeau field. At the end of the day,
the Packers enjoyed a 28-24 win.
The Vikings went into half-time with a 17-14 lead, but the Green Bay Packers turned two Favre interceptions into touchdowns in the third quarter, giving the Pack a 28-17 lead.
The Packers took the short field and scored a touchdown through Greg Jennings on a 17-yard play. Linebacker Desmond Bishop intercepted Favre and returned the football 32 yards for their second score of the quarter.
The Vikings got a touchdown back when Randy Moss capped off a 58-yard drive with a four-yard catch for a touchdown.
With time winding down in the fourth quarter, the Vikings thought they had the win when Percy Harvin caught the ball deep in the end zone. The play was initially called a touchdown, but was put up for review by the officials, since it occurred inside the
last two minutes of the game. Unfortunately, Harvin's foot was clearly out of bounds when he caught the ball overturning the decision.
Three plays later and the Vikings turned the ball over on downs, and the Packers won the game.
Brett Favre was disappointed about failing to get the win against his old team, especially after coming so close.
"It's devastating...I don't know how else to put it. I take a lot of pride and ownership in all phases of the game. You've got the ball in your hand, you hope to win those. You just feel like you let everybody down."
Vikings receiver, Percy Harvin, was equally disappointed about not being able to get his foot down in bounds, which could have given the Vikings the win.
"I did the best I could trying to get the ball down...It was a heck of a throw. I just ran out of space. Some of those plays you make, some of them you don't."
The Packers win, coupled with the Bears loss to the Washington Redskins, means that the two teams are now tied atop the NFC North Division. The Packers will have a tough test ahead of them if they want to claim sole possession of top spot in the division
as they travel to New York to take on the 5-1 Jets.
The Vikings now fall to 2-4 on the season. It won't get any easier when they meet a 5-1 AFC East opponent next week in the New England Patriots.
