  1. No. I'm a foreign student too and have never faced any discrimination. There may me such discrimination, but in  college level I don't think there will be any.

  2. It's most often a struggle to immerse oneself in a foreign country simply because you are not accustomed to the host country's culture yet. No matter how much you've read about your prospective country, it will still be different once you're already there. Now it's really for you to make extra efforts to adapt and don't just wait for anybody to do the first move or rescue you. Work for your social and emotional acceptance.

  3. A lot of that depends upon YOU!

Many foreign students, especially college ones, come over here an incessantly tell Americans everything that is wrong with the US -- but they are still taking advantage of our educational system. These type of people generally have problems making friends! Unfortunately, it's all too common. Not that I mean you have to agree with everything the U.S. does (not even most Americans do that) but please let people know what you LIKE as well as what you DON'T like!

Also, YOU need to make the effort. Don't expect the Americans to make the effort. Join a club. Volunteer. Offer to tutor.

    Good luck to you!

  4. No, it will be hard to adapt but you will be welcomed fine.  You will get use to things and no matter were you go there will be some discrimination.  So no it shouldn't be miserable and discrimination shouldn't be a worry!

  5. I think you'd be fine, and I agree with the above answer.  However, just as in many other countries, discrimination does exit... it may depend on where you choose to live.
