Tough times ahead for Aaron Baddeley
Aaron Baddeley needs to pull up his socks immediately. He needs a top-25 finish at the Deutsche Bank Open to move in to the playoffs.
He is currently 85th in the final hundred golfers left in the playoffs. Only 70 would make it to the next playoff, at the BMW Championship.
Aaron, however, feels that he is not thinking too much about the numbers like other golfers around. All he cares about is a good performance. Baddeley has never been satisfied with any finish, other than the first and may be this is not the right approach
to go forward.
A person can only succeed when one sets small goals in life and slowly progresses towards the top.
"I do not really know the number I need and I do not care to know the number to be honest," Baddeley said. “You try to play golf tournaments not to just finish in a certain spot, except for first, as number one”.
Baddeley says that he will be aiming for the top spot at Boston. He does not care if he finishes 20th or so. All what Baddeley cares about is winning.
"I am here to play as well as I possibly can and try to win a golf tournament. It is not about surviving, it is about trying to win this week because if you do you have a realistic chance to win the FedEx Cup".
Baddeley knows that a victory in Boston can even lead to the FedEx Cup victory as well, because if he wins a tournament, he can climb up the rankings massively. Nick Watney was at 49th before The Barclays and after his victory, he is now at the
top spot.
Aaron likes to play on this course. He has had a good previous record at TPC Boston. He was a little off the cards at The Barclays with his iron.
If he can sharpen his clubs and shoot a few good rounds, then he might be in contention, going in to the final day. “I need to hit my irons a little bit better to give myself a few more birdie opportunities and I need some momentum early, that's a huge thing.”
Jason Day is also in a sudden death situation just as Baddeley. He too knows the daunting task that lies ahead of him.
