Toulouse FC hold LOSC Lille to a stalemate at the Stade Municipal – Ligue 1 news
Nothing could separate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 in Ligue 1 encounter at the Stade Municipal as Toulouse held Rudi Garcia’s Lille to a 0-0 draw.
Les Dogues had a great chance to pile up extra pressure on second place Montpellier Herault against a Toulouse side that has seen a slump in form in recent weeks. Ahead of their crucial Champions League encounter against CSKA Moscow at the Luzhniki stadium,
Garcia was looking to guide his side to a victory. However, a hard working Toulouse earned a point against the away side.
The first period was certainly a cagey affair as both sides started the game carefully while probing for weaknesses in each other’s defence. Les Dogues were willing to defend as Toulouse were able to dominate proceedings in the midfield. Given the hosts
were without the services of the injured Etienne Capoue and Antoine Deveaux (suspension), it was a surprise that Toulouse were able to dominate the possession.
At the half-hour mark, Lille had a great chance to take a lead but goalkeeper Ali Ahamada was there to rescue the home side.
The goalkeeper denied Garcia’s men twice, first from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Balmont-c13837 and then from Antonio Mavuba in the 30th minute.
Talented midfielder Frank Tabanou was in great form and the youngster tested Lille goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mickaël-Landreau-c25513 from long distance. The French goalkeeper however, was able to make a great save from the shot in the 35th minute.
The second half turned out to be a far livelier period than the previous one as both sides showed willingness to take chances infront of goal. A golden opportunity was given to Lille in the 53rd minute when Norwegian international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Braaten-c9915
showed his inexperience by pulling down Franck Beria in the box.
The referee had no option but to point to the spot. Last season’s topscorer, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Senegal-c3001 international failed to convert the penalty as goalkeeper Ahamada dived the right way to save Sow’s tame effort.
The penalty miss gave both sides fresh impetuous. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694 had a great opportunity to give visitors the lead but he missed the goal by a narrow margin. Frank Tabanou was even more unlucky as the youngster struck the crossbar in the
67th minute.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eden-Hazard-c11863, who had a relatively quiet outing tested keeper Ahamada who was equal to Hazard’s effort in the 70th minute.
The game had nothing more to offer after Hazard’s effort as both teams looked satisfied with a point a piece which was a fair result in all fairness. However, Lille should consider the draw as a chance missed to pile up pressure on Montpellier who will face
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 at the weekend.
